After moving to the United States in 2000, Bolo became an RN and has been volunteering at the Kanel dispensary and donating medical supplies since. She is now a Nurse Practitioner and able to provide a more advanced level of care. In July 2018, Bolo and a team of medical professionals, social workers, and public health workers, headed to Kanel, Senegal. This effort provided care to over 300 patients in 4 days, working alongside local community health workers and providers to determine their most pressing health issues and needs.
